Universidad Mesoamericana de Guatemala y el Seminario Mayor de la Asunción firman convenio de cooperación académica

Guatemala, 9 de octubre 2025. La Universidad Mesoamericana de Guatemala, a través de su Rector, Pbro. Rómulo Gallegos Alvarado, sdb, firmó un convenio de cooperación académica con la Conferencia Episcopal de Guatemala, a través del Instituto Teológico del Seminario Mayor Nacional de la Asunción. El acuerdo fue suscrito por el Rector de la Universidad y Monseñor Rodolfo Valenzuela Núñez, en representación de la Conferencia Episcopal.
Este convenio representa un avance significativo en el fortalecimiento de la formación teológica en el país y es resultado del trabajo articulado entre la Vicerrectoría Académica, la Facultad de Ciencias Humanas y Sociales y el Seminario Mayor Nacional de la Asunción.
En el marco de esta alianza, la Universidad Mesoamericana brindará respaldo académico a los programas de Teología del Seminario Mayor, iniciando con la Licenciatura en Teología con especialidad en Pastoral, conforme a lo establecido en el Ratio Studiorum, reglamento que orienta la formación de los futuros sacerdotes en dicha institución.
El convenio, aprobado por el plenario de obispos de la Conferencia Episcopal de Guatemala, refleja el compromiso de ambas entidades por promover la excelencia académica, la formación integral y la vivencia de los valores cristianos en el ámbito universitario.
Además de garantizar el reconocimiento académico de los estudios teológicos, este acuerdo abre la puerta a nuevas oportunidades de colaboración interinstitucional en áreas como la investigación, la formación docente y el desarrollo de programas que integren la fe, la cultura y la educación. De esta manera, se busca fortalecer la calidad educativa y la preparación pastoral de quienes se forman para servir a la Iglesia y a la sociedad guatemalteca.
Con esta alianza, la Universidad Mesoamericana reafirma su identidad salesiana y su vocación de servicio eclesial, inspirada en la filosofía educativa de San Juan Bosco, que une la razón, la fe y el amor en el proceso formativo. Este convenio se consolida como un paso firme hacia una educación que, desde la fe y la ciencia, contribuya a la transformación humana y social del país.
